Three Things Thursday: Balloons, Volunteers, & Cemeteries

Big, Important Announcement!

I just wanted to remind everyone that  Three Things Thursday is now hosted by the fantastic Natalie of There She Goes! You should totally go there for the link up! 🙂

This will be my last Three Things Thursday post here on the blog…because I’m planning to really change things up around here starting the first Friday of June. As gratitude and happiness are, of course, still super-important to me, I’ll be participating in Three Things Thursday in other ways…mostly a Facebook kind of thing. 😀 Keep bringing the happy, y’all!

ONE

Piling star-shaped balloons in my car…how could that not make a person happy? 🙂 The fact that those balloons are for decorating an ice cream party for one of the academies at Grace’s school (to reward them for their fantastic donation to our fundraising efforts at the Spring Musical)? Even more with the happy making!

TWO

In more school related happiness news, our first annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner went very well! Now that we have this first one behind us, planning and set up will just get easier for future events. 🙂 (And I do love to thank those volunteers!)

THREE

I spent a good part of yesterday helping a friend on a mission to find a grave marker for a fella that died in 1866. (There are reasons for this quest, but I’ll just skip over those details for the sake of simplicity.) Our search took us to graveyards, the Register of Deeds, the Historical Society for the area, and some random woods…definitely a fun and interesting day! Here’s a little patch of graveyard tucked away in some trees…most of the markers here are 150 – 200 years old. Neat! 😀

Now, my blog friends old and new, it’s your turn…but remember that all of that delicious sharing is happening over at Natalie’s place from now on. 🙂

Looking for even more ways to focus on the happy? Check out Trent’s Weekly Smile link up…it happens every week, and it’s just full of happiness. 🙂

oh I’m sorry you won’t be doing TTT here on the blog any more. I must remember to change the text on next week’s post.
Did you find the grave marker you were seeking?

We never did find the grave marker in question, but we did get some really good leads on where it might be. We found the location of a group marker for the fella’s family, but it’s on private property, so we weren’t able to get to it. And it turns out that the actual person in question seems to have been buried a couple of counties over in South Carolina (instead of North Carolina), so we’re going to go on a second mission in the near future. 🙂

I hated to let TTT go, but I’m planning to make some changes around the blog that require me to get a lot more focused and back on track with the original intention of Nerd in the Brain. I know Natalie will take great care of the series though! 🙂

Though I’ll miss TTT here, I’m excited to see the changes that come about! 🙂
