Three Things Thursday: Starlight Hiking, Swirly Yarn, & An Unexpected Accessory

Welcome back to Three Things Thursday, a way to fill your blogs and social media with the happy!

Three Things Thursday is a simple concept that everyone is encouraged to play along with. All it requires is listing three (or more!) things that are making your life awesome. Please note! The three things you choose each week do not need to be big, huge, mighty, impressive things. In fact, I think it’s much better to focus on smaller, sillier things…because focusing on those little bits of joy and the gigglesnorts that they bring…well, that’s where day-to-day contentment lives, I believe.

So, how do you participate? Easy as falling off a log! Whip up a blog post about three things that are making you smile…then share it on the link up in this post. Don’t want to do a whole blog post? Feel free to post some pictures on Facebook or Instagram! If you tag me in your pictures, I 100% promise to give them appropriate love.❤

Just one more thing! Three Things Thursday posts actually don’t need to be done on Thursdays! I leave the link up active for the whole week every week…so you can be grateful on your own schedule.🙂

Okay, here we goooooo…

Before I get started with the picture portion of our program, I just want to say that I’ve been having a pretty amazing week! It hasn’t been free of frustrations (all sorts of blog problems, for example), but it has had an exceptional number of happy moments (an ice cream picnic at the lake with my husband, an Arts Council breakfast complete with Alice in Wonderland characters, and more salsa than you can shake a stick at…just to name a few). So, why don’t I post them all here? Well, because I put a lot of pictures on Instagram, too…and I don’t want to bore or annoy people by sharing the same stuff in multiple places. (Is that a thing people get bored or annoyed by? I don’t really know.) 🙂 Okay, onward with the gratitude and smiles!

ONE

Just last night, John and I went on a “Full Moon Hike” at our favorite park. I put that in parentheses because the moon never actually made an appearance until the hike was finished and we were driving home. 😉 So, really, it was a Starlight Hike. We may not have seen the moon, but we did see tons of fabulous stuff! Fireflies were out in force in some areas, so we were treated to quite the display! Then there was what I can only assume was a meteorite…it was lower and brighter than a meteor (shooting star) and flashed across the sky for far longer than a shooting star before disappearing over the horizon. Super nifty! There were also toads and rabbits and owls and a water snake and just all sorts of spiffy things to see and hear. Due to the whole “walking in the dark” thing, I didn’t get many pictures, but I did snap this fuzzy one of the view of the campsites from the dam we were walking across. 🙂

TWO

I was doing some knitting the other day, and the ball of yarn I was working with was doing some of the most intriguing and visually pleasing things! I just love yarn, y’all. Love it!

THREE

When John and I popped into the grocery store to gather picnic supplies, we were treated to this magnificent bit of awesome. Yes, that is an older gentlemen unapologetically wearing a super-shiny, iridescent silver backpack. So, so much yes to that! 😀

That silver backpack is quite interesting and I’m now curious as to why he would be using something like that. I got my link added as well, but ended up having to use Edge as IE, Firefox and Chrome just clocked after hitting “Add Link”. Interestingly though, Edge seems to be working quite well for almost everything; Microsoft may just have created something that actually works well 🙂

Hehe…I like to think he was using it just because he liked it and didn’t give a hoot what anyone thought. 🙂 (Of course, I don’t actually know that.)

Glad you finally got your link added…even if you did have to resort to Microsoft measures. 😉 (Not sure if problems may actually be stemming from my blog…it’s been very fickle and difficult for the past few days.)

I hope you have a great week!

If you’re running it yourself (not WP hosted) there have been quite a few patches released that need to be applied. I’m personally thinking of upgrading to the Premium plan instead of the Personal plan, but doubt that I’d self-host; too much heart burn.

Have a great week yourself! If I can find some time to myself (few hours) I should be doing good.

Yeah, I am self-hosted. I’m gonna go investigate the patches and updates right now…these things are supposed to happen automatically, but it doesn’t always play out the way it should. I used to have a Premium plan on WP, and I liked it quite a bit (there were just a couple of persnickety things that caused me to opt for self hosted…because I can be a bit persnickety).

I hope you get a bit of time to yourself this weekend! (I know I turn into a ball of irritation, anxiety, and discontent if I don’t get my regularly scheduled time to myself.)

It’s not everyday you see the word persnickety, and in the right context. Way to rock the old-school English 😀

I think I would have tried to buy the backpack off of him…

Hehe! I wonder how much he would have let it go for? 🙂

I love that man! One of the (many) good things about ageing is that you don’t give a toss ~ like it? Wear it! Your hike sounds awesome. I would love to see fireflies. I was lucky to get an wonderful view of the full moon, rising majestically in the east as I drove to dinner with friends. There were just enough clouds to make a dramatic picture.

Oh my gosh! There aren’t fireflies where you are?!? In my (geographically self-centered) mind, fireflies are one of those things that are just everywhere. I do hope you get to see them someday. I know it’s not the same, but this link has a nifty video of the little glowers in action: http://www.fireflyexperience.org/ (There’s also a species of synchronous fireflies that all light up at the same time over and over again…they are amazing, but I’ve only seen them a couple of times. They tend to be in the mountains in not terribly easily-accessible areas of the woods.)

Your view of the moon sounds fantastic…of course any view of the moon that’s followed by dinner with friends is a good one. 😀

Thank you so much for the video link. Now I REALLY want to see the fireflies. It was magic!
