Weekend Coffee Share: Applesauce Bread & Doing a Nice

Good afternoon! Thank you so much for joining the dinosaurs and me for coffee! As usual, the dinos have prepared scrumptious coffee and delicious treats for our chat. (This week, the dinos found their inspiration on Pinterest…I’ll share the recipe they chose for applesauce bread at the end of the post.) 🙂

So, what has your week looked like? If it’s been anything like mine, it’s been pretty hectic. As is our way, we’ve had a slew of meetings and appointments and volunteer hours on top of the usual work and school and home stuff…nothing particularly noteworthy or fascinating…just enough to keep us swamped. 😉

Yesterday, John and I had a fun day of a nice, long hike (beautiful weather!), getting a tire repaired (yeah, we even have fun doing stuff like that), and having a super-leisurely and delicious lunch/dinner at one of our favorite restaurants (Four types of salsa and queso and horchata and cake and coffee and an actual meal??? Yes, please!). We then returned home to an evening of games and Netflix and reading. It was a heavenly day…and the reason that I didn’t do my Coffee Share yesterday. 🙂

As I don’t have much news this week, I thought I would share a little kindness I’ve done for Grace and pals again this year. You see, at the end of each semester I like to give them a little treat to remind them that people are rooting for them to do well on their final exams. It’s a very stressful time for most high school kids, and I like to think that some simple words of encouragement can help a bit. (I may be delusional, but the word on the street -okay, the word from Grace- is that the kids love getting their exam treats.) 🙂

And what is this little treat? Just some plain ol’ Hershey’s bars in special wrappers that I created for them:

On the other edge of the wrappers, the message reads, “You’re Awesome!” 😀

Well, of course I wouldn’t just babble about the candy bar wrappers without sharing them! If you’d like to make your very own, all you need to do is print the file below, cut the wrappers out, and use double-sided tape to secure them around Hershey’s bars. 🙂

And guess what?!? I know that some of you have younger kids that you’d like to make these for…perhaps kids who aren’t quite to the “stressful taking of finals” point in their academic career? Well, I made some adjustments to the originals and made more of an “all purpose” candy bar wrapper that works for just about anyone. On these, the messages read: “You’re Awesome!” and “Have a Super Day!” 🙂

I hope you enjoy handing these out. 🙂 (And, obviously, these don’t have to go just to kids…a whole lot of grown ups in the world would appreciate a chocolate bar with a happy message.)

Other than creating cute candy treats and running around like a beheaded chicken, I’ve also been busy with some Valentine’s Day prep, but I’ll be sharing more about that later in the week. (Teaser: You’ll totally have a chance to get a goofy, nerdy Valentine from Nerd in the Brain again this year!) 🙂

And I’ve not forgotten about the A Clean Life post I owe you today! It will be coming up on the blog later this evening, and this time we’ll be talking all about Clean Lists. (Exciting, no?) 🙂 If you need to get all caught up on A Clean Life, you can check out all previous posts HERE.

Okay, as promised, I’m going to share one of our favorite treats around here, Applesauce Bread. (And since someone else has already done all of the work of taking lovely pictures and whatnot, I’m going to share the pin from whence this recipe entered our lives.) 🙂

This stuff is freakishly delicious…you won’t be sad at all if you try it. 🙂 (Well, unless you’re trying to watch your calories or something…then you might be sad.) 😉

Want to see more of the yums we try around here? I have a Pinterest board for that!

I believe I’ve babbled quite enough…and now it’s your turn! What have you been up to recently? What plans are in your future? Any awesome projects or goals or activities? Tell me all about it!

And until we chat again, I hope you have an amazing week full of love and hugs and giggles and learning and fun! ♥
