Weekend Coffee Share: Blueberry Crostini

Good morning, lovelies! I hope you’re having a wonderful morning! The dinosaurs have made some beautiful blueberry crostini (Crostinis? Is that a plural thing? I don’t even know.) for nibbling, and I’m taking care of some “this and thats” before heading out for the first Lady Gamers weekend of 2017. (Lady Gamers? A group of friends who have flung themselves all over the state assemble in a central location for 24 hours of gaming goodness…it’s always a blast…and a fabulous way for us all to keep in touch despite having many miles between us.)

But before I head out the door with a change of clothes and a stack of games, I have plenty of time for coffee with you! And you should totally try some crostini…the dinosaurs have really outdone themselves. 🙂

Okay, the careful observers among you may have noticed that there are also some ham and pear treats in that picture, but, um, the dinosuars (yes, the dinosaurs) must have eaten all of those or something. I will just sit down in a cozy chair and continue to look innocent and absolutely not like a person who has a belly full of ham and pears. 😉

I’ve had one of those weeks where I felt like I was running around constantly, but have very little to actually show for my efforts. It’s not that I wasn’t productive…it’s that I’ve been tending to a lot of things that can’t be “seen.” (But, trust me, my little family is happy I spent an afternoon straightening out a liquid propane fiasco…since that’s what we use for nifty stuff like hot water and cooking…and heat.)

Next week promises more busy, busy, busy…an orthodontist appointment for Grace, appointments for our regularly scheduled bloodlettings at the doctor (okay, okay…they supposedly need our blood for standard tests and things…that doesn’t mean I have to like it), Relay for Life meetings, a discussion panel about racial equality in our area (I’m so looking forward to that!) and lots and lots of stuff at the school (we’re doing a dinner theater event to raise funds for sending the theater students to the Southeastern theater competition)…and, of course, there’s the usual house work, schoolwork, volunteer work line up. A busy, but mostly fulfilling, week. 🙂

What about you? Anything fun or unusual on the agenda? Has your past week been hectic or relaxed or fascinating? Tell me all about it!

As always, I’ve had the blog on the brain a lot this week…there are just so many things I want to do here. Too many things! I’ve been finalizing an actual schedule or posts…with some sort of “theme” for each day of the week. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t figure out where I wanted to squish in a good babble about the books I’m reading. But then inspiration struck! Why not include it in these weekly coffee posts? I mean, what better time is there to chat about books than when gathered with friends slurping up coffee and eating dinosaur-made snacks???

So, I’ve been reading Happier at Home by Gretchen Rubin:

I haven’t made it terribly far into the book yet, but, so far, I’m enjoying it. I know Gretchen Rubin has done tons of stuff about happiness, but this is the first time I’ve read one of her books. I love her perspective on things…and the fact that reading just 40 pages of this book already has my brain whirling with possibilities.

Have you read anything by Gretchen Rubin? What did you think? What about other books on happiness? Any suggestions? (Not that I’m sitting around miserable and in need of books about happiness to perk me up…quite the contrary! I just think it’s an important topic to pay attention to.) 🙂 What about non-happiness-related books? Are you reading anything fabulous at the moment? Share, share!

In other entertainment news, I’ve been watching Gilmore Girls (again). I’ve had a lot of hands-on projects lately (knitting and cross stitch and whatnot), and I find that watching something I’ve already seen is great for that sort of thing…something to keep me entertained, but I don’t have to pay too much attention since I’ve already see it.

And let’s see…I’ve been playing a lot of Stardew Valley. I mean really a lot. And when I’m not playing, John is. We’re hooked. 🙂

What about you? What are you watching? What are you playing? Tell me all about it!

In other news, A Clean Life has gotten a good start and seems to be catching on. 🙂 I’ll be posting information for next week tomorrow evening. (After tomorrow, I’m hoping to get these things out on Sunday mornings.)

The financial series part of A Clean Life has had to be postponed for a bit. My BFF (who has qualifications and stuff when it comes to financial info) has had a medical situation pop up in her family. Everyone is okay, but there was a lot of stress and time consumption involved, so we’ll be getting to that financial series at a later date. Fear not! I’ll be filling in with other home-based info until then. 🙂

Okay, the time has come for me to share that recipe for blueberry crostini. It’s super easy and has lots of flexibility…it doesn’t even have to be blueberries…I happen to know these things are pretty terrific with blackberries and/or raspberries, too. 🙂 (You can click on the image for a pdf version to save or print.)

So easy and so tasty!

Want to see more of the yums we try around here? I have a Pinterest board for that!

Well, the time has come for me to finish getting ready for my weekend of gaming. If you’re interested in our shenanigans, keep an eye on Instagram…I’ll be adding pictures there. (These gaming weekends have gone some strange places before…I won’t go into tons of details, but I will tell you that mechanical bull riding has made a surprise appearance in the past. Who even knows what we’ll get up to???)

And until we chat again, I hope you have an amazing week full of love and hugs and giggles and learning and fun! ♥

Great post! The gaming day sounds super fun! Enjoy! I play Mahjong, Criminal Case, and Bingo Blitz regularly.

Thanks for sharing the crustini recipe. Those look scrumptious and I am sure would go great with coffee.

I really enjoyed reading The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. It was easy reading and flowed well. I read it years ago and can’t remember much else about it. And I can’t remember if I have it in hardback edition or kindle. Anyway she is originally from my home state of Missouri so she is awesome and down-to-earth. Currently I am reading Designing Clinical Research and Nursing Research: Generating and Assessing Evidence for Nursing Practice. It is definitely intense but I actually have time to think and concentrate right now since I’m not working. So it’s all good! I think I need glasses because my eyes are getting strained from all this reading. I have a pair of reading glasses so that will suffice for now.

    Have a wonderful weekend!
