#WeekendCoffeeShare: The One Where Things Are Coming Along

Good morning, wonderful blog friends! Come on in and have a quick (but delicious!) cup of coffee won’t you? I’m a afraid I’m in a bit of a hurry this morning, but we definitely have a few minutes to share some highlights! 🙂

Last Weekend

John and I had a great long weekend…mostly filled with disc golf, seeing a play, and lots of goofing off. Other than buying some new gym/hiking clothes, we didn’t accomplish much along the line of being productive…and that is so okay with us. 🙂

The Past Week

The past week has been absolutely crazed…as to be expected when Grace’s school year is wrapping up at the same time that I’m trying to completely revamp the blog. 😉 In addition to our usual activities, we’ve been scooting around to potlucks and awards ceremonies and dealing with a billion little details of finishing up a sophomore year of high school.

And did I mention that “relaunching of the blog” thing? Yeah, that totally happened yesterday. I’m so happy to be returning to a blog of STEAMy goodness. (That would be Science/Technology/Engineering/Art/Math…not anything naughty.) 😉 And guess what? I started things off with a giveaway…that you still have plenty of time to enter. If you’d like a chance to win your very own copies of Wicked Plants and the Wicked Plants Coloring Book, just click the picture below:

Win your very own copies of Wicked Plants & Wicked Plants Coloring Book! Check out Nerd in the Brain for your chance to win! (Because everyone wants to know more about misbehaving plants, right?) :)

I still have a lot to do on the blog front, but things are certainly moving along at a pace that I’m pleased with. 🙂

This Weekend

Ah, this weekend! This weekend is full to the top with awesome. In just a short bit after I finish chatting with you here, I’ll be packing up an overnight bag and as many games as I can carry to prepare for a regularly scheduled Lady Gamers Weekend. (24 hours of hanging out with awesome ladies, playing tons of games, and eating kind of an embarrassing amount of junk food…don’t worry…we only do this three times per year.) 😀

Well, this time around, Lady Gamers is happening in a town that we haven’t met up in before (we try to find a fairly central location each time since we’re spread out all over the state). And guess what?!? That town has a science museum! And guess what else?!? That science museum has a temporary exhibit on the very thing that I want to use as a theme for July’s STEAM posts. Neat! So, I’ll actually be leaving here quite soon so that I’ll have some time to peruse that exhibit before meeting up with the other ladies for lunch. 🙂

Next Week

Next week is exam week for Grace. That would normally be a fairly high-stress time around here, but she’s feeling super prepared and confident this semester, so I think it will be a pretty relaxed week. Other than that, our plans are pretty laid back. (I’m not totally bonkers…I don’t schedule a billion things to do during exam week.) 😉

And You?

What has your week been like? Are you doing anything great or fascinating this weekend? What about anything really dumb or boring? 😉 Anything exciting in the week ahead? If you have kids, are they all done with school, or are they still staring down exams/testing? Tell me all about it! And be sure to share your own Weekend Coffee Share post by clicking on the linkup below:

And until we chat again, I hope you have an amazing week full of love and hugs and giggles and learning and fun! ♥

Yes, the new look is great and all the best to your daughter. Is Lady Gamers a local group of friends? Sounds intriguing. Have fun.

Our Lady Gamers group is a group of friends (and friends of friends) who have, through the course of life events, moved ourselves all over the state. It’s an awesome way to get our game on and catch up with friends that we don’t get to see very often. Since we meet in a central spot, we get to see each other way more often than we would without the group…and we get to play tons of games and eat lots of junk food. 😉

And thank you for the lovely words! 😀

Okay, so Ladies Gamers sounds fantastic! What is the favorite game to play now a-days? Good luck to Grace on her exams. Miss Dee stressed big time before her college freshmen exams, sure she was failing at least 2 classes. Turned out she got straight “A’s”! She is just stressed by nature. I’m sure she gets it from me😉. On the STEAM front, I’d love to pick your brain. I’m in charge of the art part of STEAM camp this summer and I need some projects dealing with motion and balance. The theme is “Sports Science.” I already have a few ideas but if you have any, I would love to hear! Thanks! Have a great week!

The Lady Gamers group is totally fantastic! You should start a group of your own…all you need is a couple of friends and a central location to stay for an evening. (We usually rent a couple of hotel rooms in a town near the middle of the state.) We meet three times per year (February, June, & October), but a person could certainly schedule it in whatever fashion fit their group. 🙂 As to the games we play, we tend to play several each time, but we always get in a lot of Spades. This time around, we were sort of Quiddler obsessed, but we play everything from Sushi Go to Pandemic to Zombie Dice to Catan. 😀

Congrats to Miss Dee on the grades! That’s fantastic!!!

I’ll be happy to put some thought into artsy, STEAMy activities about motion, balance, and sports. One thing that popped into my mind right away was using the trajectory lines (graphed or already provided depending on ages and skills, of course) of various types of balls being thrown to create doodles or landscapes.

I hope you have a happy week! 😀

Thank you so much! The coloring book is great because it has the unexpected benefit of causing you to really pay attention to the forms and shapes of the plants and flowers as you’re coloring…more than just looking at a picture would. I’m so glad you’ve entered the giveaway. 🙂

I hope you have a wonderful week!

This weekend? Gardening, crochet and cooking… the usual really. Quite a relief after last weekend’s trip to Manchester and all the craftivism stuff.

That sounds like a pretty great weekend! I’m quite relieved to have no “running around” plans for the weekend ahead. I have two more trips planned for June, so it’s nice to have one weekend of quiet. Well, as quiet as it ever gets around here anyway. 😉

I also love the new look and the colouring books! Such a relaxing lay-out and the conversation’s great! Neil’s away this week and next, in the city office. Looking forward to time with Isla on my own ish, but we’ll miss him, too. Help keep me sane? haha.

I hope you enjoy your Isla time and that you don’t miss Neil too, too much while he’s away. 🙂
